The Value of Sleep

Sleep is not merely downtime for the body; it is an active process that consolidates memory and regulates mood. Adults generally need seven to nine hours, yet modern schedules often cut that short. Caffeine late in the day and bright screens can delay melatonin release. Improving sleep hygiene—regular bedtimes, darker rooms, and limited late caffeine—can raise daytime concentration more than many supplements.

Are these statements true?

1. Sleep only rests the body and does nothing else.
2. Most adults need roughly 7–9 hours of sleep.
3. Late caffeine may delay melatonin release.
